Greetings! I am delighted to be among you as a Clinical Pastoral Education student/Ministry Intern. Although this program does not officially start until October 17th, you have already shown me open hearts and caring hands. It seems these characteristics are signature at Church on the Hill. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I am finishing up my seminary education at Andover Newton Theological School and plan to graduate in December, 2011. Before beginning seminary I was an environmental and special educator with a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education and special education, respectively. In addition to teaching in elementary and secondary classrooms, I initiated, designed and directed a work-study program and transition services for a public school district in New York State. The driving force for these efforts was the desire to ensure that special students had a full life upon graduation.
I am especially interested in spiritual formation and concerned about human and earth rights. It follows that I have both initiated and participated in campaigns for justice and universal education in Nepal, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. In my personal time I prioritize contemplative practice, outdoor activity, and time with my husband, Ray, our 6 children, 6 (soon to be 7!) grandchildren, and my beloved golden retriever, Sam.
I hope you all have a wonderful fall season and I look forward to our time together at Church on the Hill.
